CLAUDE LÉGER | South Shore of Montreal

Guest instructor

MAQ is honored to welcome among its instructors the precursor of the teaching of Afghan walking in Quebec. Master Taï-Chi, Qi-Gong and acupuncturist, Claude is an exceptional teacher.

“From 1982, I practiced the Afghan march with my friend André Faubert who wrote the preface to the book“ Régénération par la marche afghane ”by Edouard G. Stiegler. Editions Guy Trédaniel Paris 1981. How many times have we not been around Mont-Royal in Montreal? At the time we were teaching acupuncture at the Canadian Institute of Acupuncture directed by Mr. Henri Solinas. I had the desire to teach this very particular walk to a few acupuncture students both in Montreal and in Quebec. The benefits being very obvious, I integrated it into some of my QI GONG courses. ”

BENOÎT TREMBLAY | Montreal - Bas-St-Laurent

MAQ instructor-trainer

Founder of Pneumacorps, teacher and respiratory health guide, Benoît began to practice Afghan walking in 1995 in the Maritime Alps. He quickly made the connection with the respiratory rehabilitation to walking that he taught to people with lung disease. Since then, inspired by meditative Zen walking (kin-hin), he has continued to work on better understanding how the respiratory system is structured in babies in parallel with the stages of development of walking. As this inseparable breathing-walking link accompanies us until the last breath, we might as well make it a benevolent adventure. This is why after having completed the training of Afghan walking instructor, he developed a teaching based on free and unified breathing of the trunk (thoraco-abdominal) as a way of maturation in children and adults. This breathing supported in the pelvis and the spine, allows to free the occiput, the sternum (cardiac coherence), the arms and the legs which facilitates the walk guided by the joy of living.

In addition to discerning a marked decrease in her stress, she is astonished to find peace of mind and to see insomnia disappear. Without hesitation, she becomes an instructor.

Attentive to the neuronal transformation of thoughts which takes place while walking in Afghanistan, she creates the "Companion". This concentration tool, inspired by the “Memo-rhythm” developed by Corinne Stiegler, a counting bracelet which accompanies you in your rhythms and exercises and which becomes a precious asset for the repetition of mantras, thoughts or positive affirmations.

Newly graduated "Cardiac Coherence Practitioner", she wishes with all her passion to offer you an extraordinary experience of this benevolent walk.

Josée is the founder of Accès Yoga, a yoga and yoga therapy teacher.

“This way of life must be known on a large scale, it is like relearning to walk and breathe in order to unite body and mind. We breathe on average 22 thousand times a day and inevitably walk every day, we might as well do it in full presence and in harmony with all that is in us and around us! ”, She says.

ANNE ST-HILAIRE | Montreal (Verdun - Mont-Royal)

Passionate about any teaching that teaches us to "be better", the Afghan walk was a revelation for her on the road to St Jacques de Compostela. Having traveled thousands of kilometers on these paths, she can confidently confirm that regardless of the number of kilometers traveled, it is the quality of each of our steps that makes them the most beautiful memories. Walking with softness and wonder always begins with the release of the breath so that our gaze is positively on the horizon, and not with the feeling of inner suffocation by a feeling of extreme efforts or forced endurance.

It is with pleasure that she shares with you this wonderful teaching of Afghan walking, combined with her experience. "So let's go further together, with a light head and a light heart!"
